Here's a big, 1-Ton GMC that you don't see everyday! According to the original purchase order, this truck was sold new at Gauker Motor Company in Mankato, Minnesota, on August 24, 1949. It was ordered with some rare options, including a chrome grill, hood ornament, and Tele-Optic turn signals.
Powered by a matching numbers 228ci Six mated to a 4 speed manual transmission, the truck runs and drives excellent. A cold start and driving video is available to view at https://youtu.be/7KurP4vfGfw
There's over 130 photos to view below, look for my comments alongside them that describe the truck in detail. The pictures should do the talking but if you have any questions feel free to call me at 503-891-7702, or click to send me an email. I can help with shipping logistics nationwide, and have worked with international buyers as well. The truck has a clean and clear WA State title.
This is a rare, unmolested work truck that has been kept all stock, with provenance back to new.
The optional chrome grill shows some light pitting, otherwise all of the chrome on the truck is in excellent condtion.
PowerKing tires mounted on factory 17" wheels.
Lights and lenses are all in great shape.
Optional hood ornament.
The date-coded windshield is original, both panes contain a repaired chip.
The decals can be removed with a heat gun if they're not wanted.
Clean and straight running boards with factory step plates intact.
Original wood-planked bed.
Optional "Teleoptic" turn signals.
Heavy-duty hitch.
Rear cab corners look great on both sides.
The turn signals were a dealer installed option, as shown on the purchase order. They were made by Teleoptic, a company that was based in Racine, Wisconsin. Very collectible pieces today, and what's neat is that they've been on this truck since it was new.
